The SWCC Spartans hosted the Graceland JV Yellow Jackets Saturday afternoon. During the first half the score stayed close, but the second half was a different story. Going into half time, the score was 31-25, Spartans lead. Three pointers were the key for the Yellow Jackets in the first half, but in the second half, the Spartans were able to shut that down.

Three minutes into the second half, the score stood at 37-30, Spartans still ahead. During the next five minutes, the Spartans offense grew much faster paced. With everyone cutting in and out of the lane, the Spartans started racking up points from layups. The Spartans' defense forced many fast break points as well. Ending the game with a final score of 86-43, it was a job well done by the Spartans.

Patrick Wright and Marquealis Edwards led the team in scoring, both with 16 points. Keenan Joiner was not far behind with 14 points. Chase Blazek proved to be an asset from the three point line, scoring nine points from behind the arc. Edwards and Wright managed to have a 100 percent finish at the free throw line, both going two for two.

The Spartans next game will be on Thursday, Dec. 8, against Grand View JV, in Des Moines at 7 p.m.
