FEBRUARY 3, 2012, Creston, IA—Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has announced Tim Sandquist will succeed Ryan McKim as the head coach for the Spartans’ golf team. McKim is leaving Southwestern for a position on the football coaching staff at Iowa State University.

Prior to coming to Southwestern, Sandquist was a graduate assistant and assistant men’s basketball coach at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also coached at Omaha Christian Academy. Sandquist attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha completing a master of arts degree in recreation administration and a bachelor of general studies - history.
Bill Krejci, SWCC athletic director, expects Sandquist to hit the ground running. “I like him as a coach and I like him as a recruiter,” Krejci explained. “He understands the recruiting program, is loyal to Southwestern, and he likes working here.”
About his recent assignment, Sandquist stated, "I am thrilled to be the new head golf coach here at Southwestern Community College. I promise our student athletes will be model citizens in and out of the classroom and also compete at a high level both regionally and nationally."
The Spartans will begin competition the first part of April. The team practices at Crestmoor Golf Club in Creston.
