Southwestern Community College’s Smart Business Resource Center promotes rural entrepreneurship and job creation throughout its service area. It is a collaboration of the Southwestern Community College Business and Information Technology Department, the South Central Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and Southern Iowa Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc. (RC&D). The program is partially funded by Southern Iowa (RC&D) and a USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant.

SWCC instructors and professional staff with extensive teaching and business consulting experience provide individualized technical assistance through on-site consultation to existing businesses and entrepreneurs. The Center provides technical assistance, technology transfer and on-site consulting in the following areas:

Throughout the year, a variety of face-to-face training opportunities are offered on SWCC's Creston Campus. Classes cover a range of topics relavant to exising business as well as those just getting off the ground. Training sessions will be added as they become available.

Southwestern Community College is a host institution for the Iowa Small Business Development Centers (SBDC).
